DARWIN
The Mission |
|
DARWIN
Darwin
is a flotilla of four free-flying spacecraft, each
containing a 3 metre diameter infrared telescope. They
will search for signs of life on Earth-like planets.
This will require a number of technological innovations
before the mission launches in the middle of the next
decade. Its mission objectives are:
- to detect and analyse Earth-like worlds
- to detect atmospheres on these planets
and to search for gases that can indicate life
- to solve the technological
challenges of far infrared interferometric
imaging in space
